Darla asked:
Some of the kids get bored with nothing to do in this tiny town, their parent(s) are working, and some kids have taken to breaking into some of the town’s few businesses or other mischief. Rather than spending a lot of money trying to catch and punish these kids, some would rather try to find alternative activities for them. There is a basketball court in a tiny park, a couple of churches, and the fire house has offered up their large room once a month for activities. This is in the Catskills of NY, it is pretty cold most of the year. The nearest towns are about 7 miles away.
Understanding that all kids are different, what kinds of activities could be set up for the kids to participate in? Are there any websites with creative ideas for programs to get kids involved and keep them busy? It is hard to figure out what can be done on a regular basis, but summer is coming and maybe that would help to kick-start things.
Please, any ideas and references would be great!!!!!!!
Thank You!
